I love playing Defense on Warsong Gulch
Written by cd34.

While I much prefer AB to WSG, I will play whichever Battleground pops first. Unlike many of the players on our battlegroup, WSG is not AB’s waiting room for me. If AB pops while I’m in WSG, I will generally stick around rather than hop. Since I Pug, I’ll quickly size up the group which gives me a general feeling of how it will go.

There’s nothing I love more in WSG than to defend the flag, or, to get the EFC during a turtle. Generally, I will kill most people before they even get the flag and I must believe that there is some shock and dismay when they see an empty flag room and as they get near the flag, bam, they’re dead. Depending on the rest of team, usually the other nine are headed across the field, never communicating and its up to me solo to protect the flag. I usually call out incs so that people rezzing can come in to help. Most of the time, an EFC will never leave the flag room. Engineering is so much fun and gives me a bunch of ways to snare or pursue. I love seeing an EFC come in with the sprint boots only to get sapped until the sprint debuff wears off.

In this game, I recall quite a bit of action for a 29 minute game. The Alliance sent over a huge group at first and the flag was returned midfield, then, Alliance decided to turtle — with a score of 0-0. At that point, they were sending pairs over to get the flag which is a good tactic since Horde never defends on Rampage. Usually, Alliance can roll in with a pair, one will run defense and the other will be the FC. This strategy usually allows me to get a few more flag returns. Qwaitxsix, a guildmate has a screenshot with 13 returns. I’m sure he’s gotten more as we usually run D together.

Ambush Crit after a Respec

778 Ambush Crit on my 29 Rogue

778 Ambush Crit on my 29 Rogue

After a respec, and before getting my final blades and enchants, I wanted to test an ambush on a very surprised shammy.  778 wasn’t too bad.

Horde Plays D!

54 kills in 52 minutes

In most Battlegrounds, I play D (Defense) and generally don’t get many kills.  In this game I recall us having an Alliance Turtle and they just kept on sending in the troops.

Fun times.

Rogues and Paladins
Written by cd34.

I run a lot of PUG groups and sometimes will run with a guildie, however, today, I was running solo and got into a rather interesting PUG of 5 rogues and 5 paladins.

It was a very quick match with us getting 3 returns very quickly.

Killin’ for a carrot

Today we the guild of IdTankThat farmed carrot on a stick. We downed Gahz’rilla (46 Elite) with two of our best members.

On a side note we are still hard at work not spamming trade to recruit anyone.

Almost 300k healing in an AB
Written by cd34.

My main is a Holy Priest that was originally going to be a PVE healer, but, due to changes in my work schedule, I ended up becoming a battle healer. I use Grid which makes it easy to heal in situations where you cannot control the raid group layout. For AB, I usually run support on the front lines whereever we are attacking. Horde somehow at 70 still doesn’t understand that defending and holding three nodes while attacking the other two with smaller forces equals a win and they often times do the all out zerg, leaving Farm undefended because they are too good to D.

Once in a while you get into a relatively good group that is there to win, and will listen and communicate which is the key. Calling out Incs – in the 70 bracket, its very easy to get somewhere to react to an incoming. In the 29 bracket, if you’re at mine, and the inc is LM, getting people from BS to move to LM and from Mine to move to BS is hard to coordinate in a Pug. However, in this AB, we did pretty well. I tried to be where I could do the most good and I think I ended up paired with udderpwnage and we rolled down, took Mine and defended.

Over 500k healing in an AV even though I came in late
Written by cd34.

I remember this game. I had a few minutes after lunch and decided to run an AV which was our daily on Cho’gall. As soon as I entered the game, we were already down by 200 resources so I headed to our base to delay the inevitable as our team punched forward. Sometimes, Horde can pull it together if we can buy them enough time, but, in this case, the Alliance was too far ahead.

I did get to hit 555k healing in this AV though.

Topping the healing charts in AB
Written by cd34.

Arathi Basin is probably my favorite battleground for the 20-29 bracket, 30-39 and 70. I didn’t play it frequently in the 49 bracket, but, I do recall not linking it or the 59 bracket. As a Battlehealer, I sure don’t dish out the damage, but, I try to keep my damage dealers alive. I was healing alongside a boomkin and I remember quite the struggle to hold on to nodes with very little defense, but we ended up 4-capping for the win. We had a few turnovers in the game, but, we came out on top.

Topped healing in Alterac Valley by over 200k
Written by cd34.

Another AV where I topped 500k in healing. On this one, Alliance left a pocket of defenders just below Vann to disrupt our attack. They took back the Aid Station (why doesn’t Horde defend that ever?) forcing us to respawn at the SPGY. Didn’t matter, we still won, but, we could have done it a little more quickly with a little defense.

The priests are a Healin’ in AV
Written by cd34.

I play a few pug AVs as a battle healer and usually its quite a mix of healers that hit the top of the charts.  Shammy’s have quite heavy heals and are typically near the very top.  I’ve seen Druid’s that have come very close to the top, but, it is very rare to see 7 priests in a row topping the healing charts in an AV.

Priest Healing for the win!
