Warsong Gulch Veteran and Arathi Basin Veteran

Bhodi has earned two more achievements.

The achievements and 65s will get you 5x[item]33042[/item]

Flag Defense glitch
Written by cd34.

In one AB, we lost Blacksmith, and according to Capping I had 11 seconds when I started to take the flag. At the end, it said I defended Blacksmith, but, it also said that the Alliance took Blacksmith.

Based on the chatlog, I am sure this is more of a latency glitch than a programming glitch, but, it was a little confusing when it happened because the flag turned blue after it said I defended it.

We had it all along
Written by cd34.

Since I run PUGs and sometimes will run with a guildmate when we do battlegrounds, some of the achievements are quite difficult to obtain as they require communication and teamwork. I always figured I would get this achievement accidentally since you can’t tell a PUG to not cap a flag for 5 seconds. This game was full of turnovers and people were frantically trying to defend bases while trying to take new bases. We capped mine at a point where we were about to lose when Capping projected the winning score to be 2000-1990 in 54 seconds.

The achievement was earned probably as it was intended.

Wisp holding the flag
Written by cd34.

During the Hallow’s End event, I was holding the flag and one of my teammates transformed me into a wisp. Of course, while transformed, I couldn’t switch to ghost wolf when our team returned our flag which led to a little stress as someone had grabbed the flag when I was moving back to return the flag.

Fell through the tunnel in Warsong Gulch
Written by cd34.

While chasing the EFC (enemy flag carrier) up the tunnel, I dropped a tremor totem as I had a warlock on me and I saw the cast bar for fear start. I was Feared into the wall and fell through, instantly dying even though I still had over 2800hp.

I have used the Netomatic, as has qwaitxfive which pulled us through the terrain and instantly disconnected us, but, this time, it was an instant death and a message to rez at the nearest graveyard.

Umbrafen Eel glitch
Written by cd34.

While doing one of the fishing dailies, I had to fish in Umbrafen lake and noticed the eels had a slight pathing issue. I believe the eels are going up on shore and following the terrain path, but, don’t realize that the water is too shallow and that they shouldn’t be able to go that close. They are still in the perimeter of the lake, but, appear to be floating a set distance above the bottom of the lake. When they get to the edge, they appear to float over the water.

Zombie event porta-pews in Shatt
Written by cd34.

Near the end of the zombie scourge invasion, the complaints in trade were so bad that I left trade chat. Our battlemasters in Orgrimmar were dead, the ones in Thunderbluff were dead, I figured, let me check Undercity, and, short of a few invasions and a very handy Argent healer right there, I was able to queue for battlegrounds without much difficulty, but, I could tell that most of the people were having the same problems.

I rejoined Trade to try and sell a few items and it was so difficult to even try to sell items, queues weren’t popping so I got a little bored. Since so many people were complaining about the invasion, I said something in chat like:

You know, outside the Aldor Bank in Shattrath there are a number of porta-pews that need to be filled and everyone needs to pray at the pews to summon Lok’helthor to start the next phase of the invasion.

Almost immediately a few people started recruiting all sorts of players to get them to fill up the pews. Even though I was queued, I just had to check Shattrath to see what they were doing so I logged on Herbskinner to take a look and was amazed at the turnout.

Trick or Treat? Trick!

Flagcarrier returns flag by walking backwards
Written by cd34.

Once in a while during a PUG, I run across some other twinks. Flagcarrier is an Undead Discipline Priest from Stormreaver that loves to play around. I’ve played a number of Warsong Gulch and Arathi Basin games to recognize a few people. While we do still win, once in a while we like to have a little fun. Rather than hide with the flag or use terrain to hide when we’ve got the flag, we generally will sit midfield until the opposing flag is returned, then, will return the flag.

One day, Flagcarrier picked up the flag and walked backwards across the entire field as we took out people trying to get our flag and return their flag. We won the game 3-0.

Matticus believes it is difficult to get 300k healing in a battleground
Written by cd34.

Undisputed Method of Earning Damage Control talks about how a healer can get 300k damage or healing to obtain the “Damage Control” achievement.

While I haven’t taken any screenshots recently, after setting 500k as a lower limit for grabbing a screenshot, 300k healing isn’t difficult at all. I’ve made a number of older screenshots, mostly after the AV change to reinforcements where games no longer last hours and most are just a mad rush to the other side. Some of the healing posts I’ve made in the past show that 300k is a rather easy number to obtain. A priest in battlegrounds that heals will heal for 2000 or so without a crit and roughly 7000 in S1 gear (735 spellpower after 3.0.2’s update). Even in S1 gear, people give up beating on me because it just takes to long to get that HK.

Casting 150 flash heals or 43 greater heals in AV is the equivalent of 4 complete mana pools without any buffs. With Divine Spirit, a trinket or two used, swapping out to [item]34677[/item] would make the task even easier. With the new glyphs, my renew’s tick at 831 — considering the glyph shortens the renew time to 12 seconds, casting 90 renews in battle would do it. Get lucky enough to cast on a warlock with Fel Armor up and your ticks are over 1100.

As a battle healer, I would often heal 70k just on the group taking out Balinda — which is a quarter of the achievement within the first 3 minutes of the game. And when I healed, I was usually one of the few that healed. With the new spellpower changes, even shadow priests could easily dish out that much healing. I believe a priest will find it much easier to get this achievement healing than by doing damage.

In Arathi Basin, you would just have to be on the attacker party, standing off to the back in order to achieve this. In Warsong I think I maxed out healing over 400k a few times in 20-25 minute games.

The king of healing that I witnessed? Stormagus, a shaman that just totally obliterated my healing.

Even in this 33 minute AV, I averaged 257 healing per second. That includes breaks to get out of combat and drink — it is rare that I’ll use potions in battlegrounds and I rarely use elixirs or buff food.

This is one of those achievements where I believe the benefit lies with pugging rather than premade/preforms. In a preform where you are just farming honor, you’re playing the system and your 10 minute win isn’t going to give you the opportunity to earn this.

Be brave, pug a game or two and you’ll be surprised at how easy these are. I imagine after WotLK 300k healing will be even easier to obtain.

Another Arathi Basin Perfection
Written by cd34.

Bhodi gets another Arathi Basin Perfection. We started with an 8 to 7 lead and ended up finishing the game with 15 to 8. There were more alliance, but, I believe they either switched to Warsong Gulch which popped for me just before the end of this game, or, /afk’ed out.
