Pally healing done right
Written by Qwait.

I was healing some battlegrounds and when the game was nearing the end I saw that the druid was in 1st place on healing. I wanted to out heal him but, I never saw the pally coming. Maybe the druid and I should take some healing lessons from him. Yorkrao from Illidan, your heals are amazing.

Junkboxes for the Insane
Written by cd34.

While gathering a few [item]16885[/item] for the Insane in the Membrane title, I figured I would loot them to see if any decent items dropped. Since you need to leave one item in the Junkbox for the quest turnin, most of the time I was able to loot silver, a health potion worth 10 silver and the occasional green item. Two lockboxes contained epics:

Both [item]1728[/item] and [item]2163[/item] were looted from one of the 1438 Junkboxes looted for the achievement.

Downloading 4.0.1 is slooooooooooow :)

While at the data center, I decided to upgrade World of Warcraft which capped out at about 4.2mb/sec. It took almost 7 minutes to download the last gigabyte for the update.

World of Warcraft Recruit a Friend Leveling Speed
Written by cd34.

While we’ve been known to powerlevel characters, we had the opportunity to test out how quickly you could level from 1 to 60 on two toons. Since the accounts were linked, there was a bonus on each quest turnin, which made questing much quicker than instancing or battlegrounding. While we know the areas for questing quite well on the Horde side since we’ve probably leveled 25+ 70+ characters, we’ve found Blizzard has done a relatively good job putting in quest hubs.

Here are two screenshots taken during leveling a hunter from 1 to 60 in two days. This was a Shaman/Hunter team and I believe only two levels were granted through the recruit a friend. We previously leveled a Priest/Warrior team which took four days from 1 to 60.

53 seconds for Level 51 to 52 was accomplished during the turnins for Hinterlands. Usually we hit Hinterlands right at 46 to get the [item]19120[/item] for a little extra hit, but, the experience gains from questing are just too fast with the linked accounts. The second image was taken in Ungoro Crater, which we usually hit at 49. Ungoro Crater is usually good for 49-52 in an hour or so without the referral link due to the fact that you have over 20 quests that can be turned in, and, if you do the escort quest and the ash quest from ratchet, an extra boost of experience when you turn those in.

Damage Control
Written by cd34.

Qwaitxtwo, a fresh 80 warlock respecced Affliction to run a few battlegrounds, and, it is extremely easy to get the big numbers

On the second or third AV, Horde took Snowfall Graveyard which results in a battle of reinforcements. Since the Alliance were stuck at the bridge chokepoint, it is just a matter of which side has more deaths.

During the game Qwaitxtwo received Damage Control and ended up with over 830k damage in the game. For a fresh 80 in quest greens and blues, that is pretty respectable.

World of Warcraft Scam Site

While questing in Winterspring, I received a private message from ‘blizzard’ telling me I was a lucky player and would get a ‘surprise gift of the mysterious’

Geesh, does anyone believe this stuff?

After watching the trade channel, I guess they do. Stories of people who’s accounts were hacked are all over the trade channel — which honestly, Blizzard should rename as World General.

Last week they were giving out free mounts. I didn’t get my free mount.

Thank goodness I signed up for that Cataclysm Beta…. wait, where did all of my items and gold go?

Horde Dominates HKs but lacks defense
Written by cd34.

We had this game from the start, but, Horde got lazy. Alliance fought as a group, defended the nodes they took (Horde never does this), and beat us by playing smart. They didn’t have to top the HK charts to win, they held three bases and sent small 3 person groups to attack the nodes where Horde wasn’t defending. The strategy worked well as they ended up winning, and all of the Horde that ran around from base to base killing topped the HK charts, but, still lost.

I had been defending Blacksmith until I was left solo and a group of four took it, so, I ended up recapping farm with a few others and was stuck defending farm.

1337 Armor, 2000 and 2806 Honor, and 73 Armor
Written by cd34.

While leveling, it is funny how some numbers pop up on different stats. I had ‘leet’ armor when questing in the Barrens.

1337 Armor

I had exactly 2000 Honor exactly during an Arathi Basin battleground.

2000 honor

I needed 2805 Honor to buy the Insignia of the Horde, and had 2806

2806 honor

While fighting some mobs in Felwood, Qwickthree had 73 armor. Yes, he’s level 48 taking on level 53 mobs.

37 Minutes for Level 46 to 47
Written by cd34.

Blizzard made a number of changes to leveling which I believe means they are focused on end game content rather than everything prior. Bind On Account gear gives 10% more experience per item, and you can equip two BOA items for a 20% gain. Experience for quests was raised and mounts are obtainable at level 20. This probably is a big factor as many of the quest hubs in the starting areas require a bit of running around.

However, the biggest change was experience in Battlegrounds. While questing, I’ll always have two battlegrounds queued, and, on a good night, I’ll actually do more battlegrounding than questing. While leveling Qwaitxsix in the Hinterlands, the battlegrounds were constantly popping. A quest turnin leveled me in Orgrimmar.

99 HKs on Defense
Written by cd34.

With the new Honorable Defender bonus, you get 50% more honor from your kills than you do when you are attacking. I’m not sure why Blizzard did this, but, as someone that usually defends, it is a welcome change. It doesn’t mean people will defend, and more than one time we’ve lost a base because someone capped a flag and left it to go fight. The ‘Too Good to D’ syndrome.

What most people fail to realize is, if you control three bases in Arathi Basin, the battle will come to you. Fight on the Flags when defending, pull the enemy from the flag when they are defending. It’s not a difficult concept.
