It isn’t surprising to see some healing on non-healing classes in the battleground scoreboards. Life Drain shows up for warlocks, Mend Pet shows up as healing for hunters. However, many hunters hit Mend Pet only when their pet is about to die because healing their pet takes away from their DPS. Sure, PUG battlegrounds should have healers once in a while, but, I’ve seen ret pallies that refuse to heal anyone around them, even themselves because they are there to DPS. Shadow Priests rarely pop out of shadowform even when it could save them.

Once in a while you’ll see some rogue that is relatively low leveled for the bracket and they’ll ask for a healbot — because by some miracle with a healer, they’ll be able to take out someone. If you call out for a healbot, and by some rare chance you get one, protect that healer — don’t charge into battle DPSing everything and allow the healer to get killed and then complain that you didn’t get any heals.

In any case, the screenshots of Qwickthree’s healing are a pretty sad testament to the healers in battlegrounds. They are virtually non-existent, but, very much appreciated when they are around.

Overall, it is just a statement that healers are pretty rare in battlegrounds – even on the twink battlegrounds.

Undisputed Method of Earning Damage Control talks about how a healer can get 300k damage or healing to obtain the “Damage Control” achievement.

While I haven’t taken any screenshots recently, after setting 500k as a lower limit for grabbing a screenshot, 300k healing isn’t difficult at all. I’ve made a number of older screenshots, mostly after the AV change to reinforcements where games no longer last hours and most are just a mad rush to the other side. Some of the healing posts I’ve made in the past show that 300k is a rather easy number to obtain. A priest in battlegrounds that heals will heal for 2000 or so without a crit and roughly 7000 in S1 gear (735 spellpower after 3.0.2′s update). Even in S1 gear, people give up beating on me because it just takes to long to get that HK.

Casting 150 flash heals or 43 greater heals in AV is the equivalent of 4 complete mana pools without any buffs. With Divine Spirit, a trinket or two used, swapping out to <span onmouseover="return overlib('<table class=\'wh_outer\'>
 <td valign=\'top\'> <div class=\'iconmedium\' style=\'background-image: url(http://static.wowhead.com/images/icons/medium/inv_jewelry_necklace_12.jpg);\'><div class=\'tile\'>

 <td width=\'300\'> <table class=\'wowhead_tooltip\'>
<td class=\'top-left\'>
<td class=\'top-right\'>

<td colspan=\'2\' class=\'wh_left\'> <div class=\'wh_right\'><div class=\'wowhead_tooltip\'>

<b class=\'q4\'><a href=\'http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34677\' target=\'_new\'>Shattered Sun Pendant of Restoration
Binds when picked up
Neck
+19 Stamina
Requires Level 70
Requires Shattered Sun Offensive - Exalted

<span class=\'q2\'>Equip: Increases spell power by 37.
<span class=\'q2\'>Equip: Restores 7 mana per 5 sec.
<span class=\'q2\'>Equip: Your heals have a chance to call on the power of the Arcane if you\'re exalted with the Scryers, or the Light if you\'re exalted with the Aldor.

<td class=\'bottom-left\'>
<td class=\'bottom-right\'>

',VAUTO,HAUTO,FULLHTML);" onmouseout="return nd();">[Shattered Sun Pendant of Restoration] would make the task even easier. With the new glyphs, my renew’s tick at 831 — considering the glyph shortens the renew time to 12 seconds, casting 90 renews in battle would do it. Get lucky enough to cast on a warlock with Fel Armor up and your ticks are over 1100.

As a battle healer, I would often heal 70k just on the group taking out Balinda — which is a quarter of the achievement within the first 3 minutes of the game. And when I healed, I was usually one of the few that healed. With the new spellpower changes, even shadow priests could easily dish out that much healing. I believe a priest will find it much easier to get this achievement healing than by doing damage.

In Arathi Basin, you would just have to be on the attacker party, standing off to the back in order to achieve this. In Warsong I think I maxed out healing over 400k a few times in 20-25 minute games.

The king of healing that I witnessed? Stormagus, a shaman that just totally obliterated my healing.

Even in this 33 minute AV, I averaged 257 healing per second. That includes breaks to get out of combat and drink — it is rare that I’ll use potions in battlegrounds and I rarely use elixirs or buff food.

This is one of those achievements where I believe the benefit lies with pugging rather than premade/preforms. In a preform where you are just farming honor, you’re playing the system and your 10 minute win isn’t going to give you the opportunity to earn this.

Be brave, pug a game or two and you’ll be surprised at how easy these are. I imagine after WotLK 300k healing will be even easier to obtain.

My main is a Holy Priest that was originally going to be a PVE healer, but, due to changes in my work schedule, I ended up becoming a battle healer. I use Grid which makes it easy to heal in situations where you cannot control the raid group layout. For AB, I usually run support on the front lines whereever we are attacking. Horde somehow at 70 still doesn’t understand that defending and holding three nodes while attacking the other two with smaller forces equals a win and they often times do the all out zerg, leaving Farm undefended because they are too good to D.

Once in a while you get into a relatively good group that is there to win, and will listen and communicate which is the key. Calling out Incs – in the 70 bracket, its very easy to get somewhere to react to an incoming. In the 29 bracket, if you’re at mine, and the inc is LM, getting people from BS to move to LM and from Mine to move to BS is hard to coordinate in a Pug. However, in this AB, we did pretty well. I tried to be where I could do the most good and I think I ended up paired with udderpwnage and we rolled down, took Mine and defended.

I remember this game. I had a few minutes after lunch and decided to run an AV which was our daily on Cho’gall. As soon as I entered the game, we were already down by 200 resources so I headed to our base to delay the inevitable as our team punched forward. Sometimes, Horde can pull it together if we can buy them enough time, but, in this case, the Alliance was too far ahead.

I did get to hit 555k healing in this AV though.
