Warlocks topping the healing charts in Battlegrounds

It isn’t surprising to see some healing on non-healing classes in the battleground scoreboards. Life Drain shows up for warlocks, Mend Pet shows up as healing for hunters. However, many hunters hit Mend Pet only when their pet is about to die because healing their pet takes away from their DPS. Sure, PUG battlegrounds should have healers once in a while, but, I’ve seen ret pallies that refuse to heal anyone around them, even themselves because they are there to DPS. Shadow Priests rarely pop out of shadowform even when it could save them.

Once in a while you’ll see some rogue that is relatively low leveled for the bracket and they’ll ask for a healbot — because by some miracle with a healer, they’ll be able to take out someone. If you call out for a healbot, and by some rare chance you get one, protect that healer — don’t charge into battle DPSing everything and allow the healer to get killed and then complain that you didn’t get any heals.

In any case, the screenshots of Qwickthree’s healing are a pretty sad testament to the healers in battlegrounds. They are virtually non-existent, but, very much appreciated when they are around.

Overall, it is just a statement that healers are pretty rare in battlegrounds – even on the twink battlegrounds.

Interesting Battleground Glitch with Warlock and Pet

While questing in STV, I decided to try a few battlegrounds, so, I hit H, queued up for Warsong and Arathi and was about to turn in a quest when Arathi popped. I was mounted, accepted the port to the battleground, played Arathi, and when I left the battleground, I returned to STV mounted, but, with my imp still summoned. His actions were greyed out, so, I couldn’t actually command him to do anything, but, he followed me around STV.

Warsong Gulch assured victory?

At the beginning of this Warsong Gulch, it was 5v2, two more people zoned in on Horde side and then Arathi Basin popped. At that point, I believe the two Alliance took the Arathi Basin queue, leaving us with a 7v0 game.

While we could have at least scored a quick early point, somehow our Flag Carrier decided it would be funny to dance around midfield, some Alliance zoned in and quickly got to our flag room. The game ended 3-2 with Horde winning.

At level 80, almost every battleground I have tried starts with a deficit on the horde side except for Alterac Valley. In AV, I have yet to see a match where we didn’t have at least 15 more players than the Alliance. I started twinking after I saw the horde honor farming rather than playing the game. They were concerned with how much honor per hour they could earn and they would queue up for those battlegrounds. The only time you saw decent queues were on battleground holiday weekends and even then, people were there for the ‘quick honor.’

3.1 brings with it Battleground Queuing from anywhere and queuing up for 5 battlegrounds at a time. Now, if people see a game they don’t think will be quick honor, they’ll have 4 other battlegrounds to choose from.

Warsong Gulch Victory – Warsong Gulch Perfection

After the quick run to 80, and a hodge-podge set of gear, healing is a bit of a challenge during the battlegrounds, but, I am able to stay alive reasonably well. During one WSG, we were able to return the flag 3 times before the Alliance. On our battlegroup Rampage, usually one side or the other gets a 3-0 victory. There are very few close games.

10000 Honorable Kills

10000 kills while I was healing. Our flag dropped down from the enemy gy and while I was healing, the achievement popped up. Unlike the 10000th kill on IbJammin, I didn’t get the name of the player that was credited as my 10000th kill. There were a few notable players in that wsg, but, they weren’t near the gy at the time.

A fan of Bhodi

Bhodi is my 29 Shaman Twink. While I loved playing IBJammin, Bhodi brings a lot more challenge to the game with the recent hunter changes. I’ve changed my playstyle from being a stealthy backstabber to providing quite a bit of support for the team. I am not responsible for our wins as it takes a team effort, but, once in a while you get someone that appreciates your effort.

While I didn’t top the damage or healing charts, I healed where it was necessary, DPSed where I could, and returned two flags by chasing them down when they slipped past midfield. I love my frost shock glyph that extends the length of the shock by two seconds. By the time frost shock is about to expire on my target, the cooldown on Frost shock is ready to be reapplied. With liberal use of purge, even pallies are easy enough to slow and take down.

41k Healing in a Warsong Gulch

Bhodi hits 41k healing in a Warsong, but, I am not specced Resto.

I came into the game late and Horde was being hammered quite bad. Always love zoning into a flag room with 6 attackers. I stepped in, healed as much as I could, started to DPS and we repelled that attack, but, we still weren’t strong enough to overcome.

Identical Healing in a Warsong Battleground

Vow and Bhodi both had identical healing in this battleground which I thought was worthy of a screenshot. I’m not specced as a healer, but, will heal when needed.

In Warsong Gulch and Arathi Basin, communications can be the key, but, sometimes people don’t know what some of the terms mean. These aren’t authoritative terms, but, they are what many in our battlegroup have come to use when they type.

D = Defense
O = Offense

Warsong Gulch

efc = Enemy Flag Carrier
etun = Enemy Tunnel
eramp = Enemy Ramp
egy = Enemy Graveyard
efr = enemy flag room

fc = flag carrier
tun = your tunnel
ramp = your ramp
gy = graveyard
fr = flag room

mid = midfield

Arathi Basin

gm = Gold Mine/Mine
bs = Blacksmith
farm = Farm
stab = Stables
lm = Lumber Mill

The trick to either Warsong or Arathi is to call out the info quickly.

When your flag is taken and the carrier is going out the tunnel, say: efc tun. Or, if they are leaving out the graveyard side, efc gy or efc ramp if they are going the other way. If you run D in the fr, you might say, 3 inc tun to let people know what is coming up. Even if you are midfield and can’t slow/kill the person, sometimes even shammy inc ramp can let the people in the flag room know that they should expect a shammy to drop in from the 2nd floor or come in through the entrance near your gy.

When you are running Arathi Basin, it is good to call out the incoming attackers early, and, give enough information that people can respond. It is much better to say, inc 3 farm from bs than to say ‘help’. Knowing where the attackers are coming from can allow other players to intercept and delay the attackers until reinforcements can get there. Many times, a few second delay can at least allow a defender to respawn and potentially save the flag.

Wisp holding the flag

During the Hallow’s End event, I was holding the flag and one of my teammates transformed me into a wisp. Of course, while transformed, I couldn’t switch to ghost wolf when our team returned our flag which led to a little stress as someone had grabbed the flag when I was moving back to return the flag.
