Qwaitxtwo, a fresh 80 warlock respecced Affliction to run a few battlegrounds, and, it is extremely easy to get the big numbers

On the second or third AV, Horde took Snowfall Graveyard which results in a battle of reinforcements. Since the Alliance were stuck at the bridge chokepoint, it is just a matter of which side has more deaths.

During the game Qwaitxtwo received Damage Control and ended up with over 830k damage in the game. For a fresh 80 in quest greens and blues, that is pretty respectable.

We had this game from the start, but, Horde got lazy. Alliance fought as a group, defended the nodes they took (Horde never does this), and beat us by playing smart. They didn’t have to top the HK charts to win, they held three bases and sent small 3 person groups to attack the nodes where Horde wasn’t defending. The strategy worked well as they ended up winning, and all of the Horde that ran around from base to base killing topped the HK charts, but, still lost.

I had been defending Blacksmith until I was left solo and a group of four took it, so, I ended up recapping farm with a few others and was stuck defending farm.

With the new Honorable Defender bonus, you get 50% more honor from your kills than you do when you are attacking. I’m not sure why Blizzard did this, but, as someone that usually defends, it is a welcome change. It doesn’t mean people will defend, and more than one time we’ve lost a base because someone capped a flag and left it to go fight. The ‘Too Good to D’ syndrome.

What most people fail to realize is, if you control three bases in Arathi Basin, the battle will come to you. Fight on the Flags when defending, pull the enemy from the flag when they are defending. It’s not a difficult concept.

It isn’t surprising to see some healing on non-healing classes in the battleground scoreboards. Life Drain shows up for warlocks, Mend Pet shows up as healing for hunters. However, many hunters hit Mend Pet only when their pet is about to die because healing their pet takes away from their DPS. Sure, PUG battlegrounds should have healers once in a while, but, I’ve seen ret pallies that refuse to heal anyone around them, even themselves because they are there to DPS. Shadow Priests rarely pop out of shadowform even when it could save them.

Once in a while you’ll see some rogue that is relatively low leveled for the bracket and they’ll ask for a healbot — because by some miracle with a healer, they’ll be able to take out someone. If you call out for a healbot, and by some rare chance you get one, protect that healer — don’t charge into battle DPSing everything and allow the healer to get killed and then complain that you didn’t get any heals.

In any case, the screenshots of Qwickthree’s healing are a pretty sad testament to the healers in battlegrounds. They are virtually non-existent, but, very much appreciated when they are around.

Overall, it is just a statement that healers are pretty rare in battlegrounds – even on the twink battlegrounds.

I am not one to condone graveyard camping. I hate it in the 29 bracket, hated it in the 70 bracket, and now that I’m in the 80 bracket, I still dislike it.

Alliance have a few people that glitch Wintergrasp and it is frustrating. We’ll be into a game, a wall will be down and instantly we have 12 Demolishers headed for that wall and into the center courtyard, through the walls and we lose Wintergrasp. Once the battle is over, the Alliance on Cho’gall keep their tenacity bonus. So, after this game where Horde defended both workshops extremely well, the Alliance decided to camp the graveyard spawn and repeatedly kill the Horde that were rezzing there. A call out in General chat and our raid group came en masse to help our stranded group members.

It turned into a 15 minute slugfest where we eventually pushed them back to their graveyard, killed all of their NPCs and pushed them into a small little spot. If you’ve never seen what happens when you resurrect in Wintergrasp, you are given a debuff where you cannot be damaged. Since we had killed their flight master and all of the NPCs, the Alliance stayed huddled in a little corner while trying to range dps us. Once in a while someone would get close enough for a death knight to death grip someone, but, a quick dispell and all was good.

They started it, we ended it.

At the beginning of this Warsong Gulch, it was 5v2, two more people zoned in on Horde side and then Arathi Basin popped. At that point, I believe the two Alliance took the Arathi Basin queue, leaving us with a 7v0 game.

While we could have at least scored a quick early point, somehow our Flag Carrier decided it would be funny to dance around midfield, some Alliance zoned in and quickly got to our flag room. The game ended 3-2 with Horde winning.

At level 80, almost every battleground I have tried starts with a deficit on the horde side except for Alterac Valley. In AV, I have yet to see a match where we didn’t have at least 15 more players than the Alliance. I started twinking after I saw the horde honor farming rather than playing the game. They were concerned with how much honor per hour they could earn and they would queue up for those battlegrounds. The only time you saw decent queues were on battleground holiday weekends and even then, people were there for the ‘quick honor.’

3.1 brings with it Battleground Queuing from anywhere and queuing up for 5 battlegrounds at a time. Now, if people see a game they don’t think will be quick honor, they’ll have 4 other battlegrounds to choose from.
